A number of other prayers
The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary
And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary.....
Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
Be it done unto me according to Your word.
Hail Mary.....
And the Word was made flesh.
And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary.....
Pray for us O Holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Pour forth we beseech you, O Lord Your grace into our hearts, that we to whom the incarnation of Christ Your Son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross, be brought to the glory of His resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord, Amen.
May the divine assistance remain always with us and may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, Amen.
Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel:
St. (Holy) Michael the Archangel, defend us in our day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, (bind and) thrust down into hell satan and all evil spirits who wander through this world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
PRAYER OF SELF-DEDICATION TO JESUS CHRIST
Lord Jesus Christ, take all my freedom, my memory, my understanding and my will. All that I have and cherish you have given me. I surrender it all to be guided by your will. Your grace and your love are wealth enough for me. Give me these, Lord Jesus Christ and I ask for nothing more.
PRAYER OF SAINT FRANCIS
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred...Let me sow love,
Where there is injury... Let me sow pardon,
Where there is doubt... Let me sow faith,
Where there is despair...Let me sow hope,
Where there is darkness...Let me sow light,
Where there is sadness Let me sow joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled...as to console,
To be understood...as to understand,
To be loved...as to love, For
It is in giving...that we receive,
It is in pardoning...that we are pardoned,
It is in dying...that we are born to eternal life.
The MEMORARE
Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that it has never been known that anyone who fled to your protection or sought your help was left unaided. Encouraged with this confidence, O Virgin of Virgins , I stand before you, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word incarnate, do not reject my prayer but in your mercy hear me and answer me, Amen.
A PRAYER TO MARY FOR INTERCESSION AND HELP
O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendour of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God. Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my Mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart, to succour me in this necessity; there are none that can withstand your power.
O show me herein you are my mother. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. (three times) Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands. (three times)
PRAYER FOR PEACE
Almighty and eternal God, Father of mercy, May your grace enkindle in all of us a love for the many unfortunate people who poverty and misery reduce to a condition of life unworthy of human beings . Arouse in the hearts of all who call you Father, a hunger and thirst for peace and justice and for fraternal charity in deeds and in truth. Grant O Lord, peace in our days, peace to our souls, peace to our families, peace to our country and lasting peace among all nations of the world. We make this prayer in the name of your Son, the Prince of Peace, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever, Amen.
Prayer for Peace (2)
O God, source of holy desires, right counsels and just actions, grant to your servants that peace which the world cannot give, so that our hearts may be wholly devoted to your service, and all our days, freed from dread of our enemies, may be passed in quietness under your protection.
Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your Apostles, I leave you peace, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom which is according to your will; who lives and reigns where you live for ever and ever.
Prayer of St. Richard of Chichester
Thanks be to you, my Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits and blessings which you have given to me, for all the pains and insults which you have borne for me, O most merciful Friend, Brother and Redeemer. May I know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly.
(or a modern version of this prayer)
Day by day, O dear Lord, Three things I pray: to see you more clearly, love you more dearly, follow you more nearly, day by day, by day by day.
Prayer of Cardinal Newman
May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed and the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then in His mercy may He give us a safe lodging and a holy rest and peace at the last.
God be in my head. (Book of Hours - 1514)
God be in my head, and in my understanding; God be in mine eyes, and in my looking; God be in my mouth, and in my speaking; God be in my heart; and in my thinking; God be at mine end, and at my departing.
